Catherall said today’s London “has changed dramatically in some ways.”

British printmaker and illustrator, Paul Catherall, has been documenting the emerging architecture of London for more than a decade.

He notices the details of the London skyline and exactly how they’ve changed. He focuses on the city’s urban transformations. He’s watched as new London landmarks like Renzo Piano’s The Shard have grown and while others have been demolished.

Catherall’s linocuts are finished by hand, a process that can take weeks at a time. His prints are known for their crisp modernist lines, minimal detail and dynamic compositions, according to Co.DESIGN.

Thirty of the artist’s latest and past works are on display at gallery@OXO, housed in the storied Art Deco OXO Tower, through May 19.

These days the Gherkin is about to be obscured by the ‘Cheesegrater’ and the ‘Walkie Talkie’ has popped up in the same view. It’s a bit of a shame, really. – Paul Catherall
